Frequently asked questions

Common questions about MintByte — what we publish, how we earn, what's free, our regulatory standing, and how to raise an investor grievance.

· 3 min read

Is MintByte free to use?

Yes. Every stock dossier, mutual-fund page, ETF page, screener result, comparison and calculator on this site is free for individual retail investors. See pricing for the full breakdown.

Does MintByte give investment advice or stock recommendations?

No. MintByte does not provide investment-advisory or research-analyst services and does not give personalised buy / sell recommendations on individual securities. The site is an educational data and analytics platform.

We are registered as:

  • Mutual Fund Distributor — AMFI ARN-314872
  • PMS Distributor — APMI APRN-01658
  • Authorised Person (Equity) — NSE APCM-AP0297610463 and BSE APAP01044601177076
  • Authorised Person of Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd
  • ISO 27001 + ISO 9001 certified

How is MintByte different from other research platforms?

Three things:

  • Every metric has a documented formula at /methodology/ — including the in-house ones. If you disagree with the math, you can see exactly where.
  • Honest empty states. A blank field means we don't have the data, not that the value is zero. Sections render only when the underlying data exists.
  • No paywall on data we are already required to ingest as a distributor. AMFI / AMC / NSE / BSE data is foundational to our distribution work; gating it would be a tax on transparency.

How does MintByte make money?

Trail commission on Regular-plan mutual-fund subscriptions (embedded in the scheme's expense ratio, as permitted by AMFI). Referral fees on brokerage accounts opened through Motilal Oswal via our Authorised Person link. Direct-plan investments pay no trail commission to us. See pricing and the consolidated Disclosures.

Can I trust the numbers?

We don't ask you to. The whole point of the methodology pages is that you can audit our math. NAV comes from AMFI; the formula for CAGR is standard; rolling-window analysis is documented; star ratings are 3-year category quartiles computed in-house from rolling returns — educational only, not a buy / sell signal.

Is past performance indicative of future results?

No. Past performance is not an indicator of future returns. Investments in the securities market are subject to market and other risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully before investing.

How do I delete my account or my data?

Email [email protected] from your registered email address (subject: DSAR — Erasure). Under the DPDP Act, 2023 we acknowledge within 2 business days and action the request within 30 calendar days, subject to mandatory record-retention obligations under SEBI / PMLA. The full procedure is on the Privacy Policy and DPDP Disclosure pages.

I found a bug or a data error — where do I report it?

Email [email protected] with Data quality in the subject, or use the contact page. We acknowledge data-quality reports within 2 business days.

How do I raise an investor grievance?

The full L1 → L2 → SEBI SCORES → Smart ODR escalation matrix is on the Investor Grievance Redressal page:

For complaints already lodged with us and pending escalation reference numbers (including any exchange-side case IDs), retain the original ticket reference and quote it in subsequent correspondence so we can track resolution end-to-end.

Do you offer NRI / OCI services?

We can on-board NRIs and OCIs for the products we distribute, subject to KYC / FATCA / FEMA constraints. See the NRI page for the current scope and the documentation list.

Can MintByte recommend a portfolio for me?

No. We do not produce personalised portfolio recommendations. We can provide educational research that helps you (or your SEBI-registered adviser / CA) make better decisions.
